Planning ahead for 2024
“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success”
There is something positive to be said for being a land locked dive centre in the middle of the UK. Most fortunately that we don’t get thrashed by raging winds and winter storms coming in off the coastline. Luckily our chosen training venues are inland dive sites with sufficient shelter, and facilities to allow year-round diving during the winter months. The hardiest of our club members and instructors, will still take to the winding roads of the Snake and Woodhead Passes to spend a day or two at Capernwray or head down the M1 for a dip at Stoney Cove. (other dive sites are available!)
Training doesn’t have to stop because of the chilly temperatures. Choosing the right dive gear in cold water is essential, along with having the right mindset, physical capabilities, certification and that all important level of diving experience.
So, Diveworld will be diving this month, next month and beyond, before the onset of the new diving season.
If you parked up your fins over winter and are thinking about digging out your gear, now is the time to start prepping for the Spring. Working back a couple of months from departure dates for foreign trips, or before enrolling on your next diver course, get your gear serviced in readiness.
Think about your fitness after a party season of excess and hibernation. Do you need a medical? Has anything changed in your health? Medical Form. Think through the environments you will be diving in and carefully choose your dive buddies.
Your logbook and a check list are always useful. When was your last dive? Your buddy’s last dive? Do you need a refresher or to Reactivate? Do you need to get in a pool and try out your recently serviced regulators and BCD? Have you checked the battery life on your dive computer? Did you store your dry suit properly? Are the seals and zip good before you jump into water that is much less than balmy warm! Is your cylinder in test? Where’s your mask and snorkel? Servicing at Diveworld
Diveworld offers kit servicing, sales, help and advice, and will professionally guide you to make sure your next dive is a safe dive.
