Our monthly visit to Capernwray dive site was another cracking weekend.
Even though the water temperatures have dropped to five celcius, fewer divers and great visability are great compensation, along with Sandy`s warming coffee and snacks in the cafe spirits were high all weekend.
Over the weekend we had our usual PADI Open Water Diver course running alongside the PADI Dry Suit Specialty course. Superb performance from Ian Mycroft right through the weekend and congratulations on achieving your lifelong ambition of becoming a diver. Best wishes to the others who have referred their certification to various warmer parts of the world.
Ever keen to expand diver capability, we worked with Youi Shen & Ian Biddle to complete PADI Underwater Navigator, expert compass work allowed them to find the majority of the sites around underwater Capernwray. Ian also spent Saturday finessing his buoyancy in his new Azdry dry suit on the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course. Excellent weekend from both, congratulations.
Professional development can never be underestimated in developing an expert dive team. Tom Aukland and Michael Shanley, two of our current trainee divemasters, completed a couple of workshops each, ticking off more of their PADI Divemaster course.
Last but never least a huge thank you to our Pro team on duty. Instructors Mark Bray & Mat Walton, along with backup from the afore mentioned Michael & Tom, we had Mat Mycroft and Kim Aukland on Divemaster duties and shore cover, a fine job as always.
It is always good to have club members diving with us just for fun so thanks to Shaun, Gemma & Yilun for joining in the fun. And finally a mention to our restaurant of choice for the Saturday evening meal, another lovely meal and great service from The Honey Tree in Morcambe, thanks ladies.
Why not join us either for a traing session or just for fun at the next visit in February?
