Light at the end of the tunnel?
After the latest pronouncements from Downing St, the news is at last looking positive.
It may be small glimmers of hope, but at least they are positive, it has been a while since that feeling has been evident.
You may or may not know, even though Diveworld has been in lockdown we have been working and available to our members and customers throughout. Working through online platforms such as Zoom and TeamViewer we have managed to keep in touch with a good few of you out in the wilderness.
We have also been running essential Emergency First Response First Aid at Work courses for key businesses such as Asda and B&Q.
Louise has worked to become a Mental Health Awareness Instructor and will be offering this valuable course (online available) shortly.
A new course in the pipeline too, PADI Junior Divemaster. We have wanted something along these lines for a long time, aimed at young divers from 15-17 years of age, wanting to progress after completing PADI Rescue Diver, but not old enough to enrol on the full professional Divemaster course. This is a really exciting prospect for us, we are one of the few centres piloting the course. Get in touch if you would like to know more.
If all goes to plan Covid wise, our recovery plan looks roughly like this:
- We should be able to reopen the shop towards the end of March/start of April.
- Depending on how the dive sites such as Capernwray and Stoney Cove decode the rulings, we should be able to run courses and dives that can be done in open water around the same time span. All exciting news and we can`t wait to get going again.
- Final part of the start of real recovery for us will be swimming pools reopening. They have had an individual interpretation of the rulings in the past so we will keep everything crossed that they will want a speedy re-open as much as we do, time will tell.
If you have any plans to get diving again, let us know. make sure all your equipment is serviced and in good nick, we can help with that of course. Start back slowly and carefully, it has been a while for us all. Most of all stay safe and we hope to see you at a club night or day at a dive site, before too much longer.
